Dream Come True Zoboomafoo!

So off we headed to the Great Smokey Mountains-why you ask? To go to Dollywood of course-Why you ask again? To see the Kratt Brothers-Chris and Martin, the creators of Zoboomafoo-one of Alex's all time favorite shows. Why you ask yet again? Cause sometimes thats just what a parent does. Yes-we drove 9 hours basically for a 30 minute show. But guess what-it was completely and totally worth it. Her face, just upon entering the theater and seeing the animal junction set was worth it. Her squeals of delight with seeing Zaboo on the video screens was worth it. Her joyous singing of all the theme music was worth it. And the look of total awe when the brothers came on stage was worth it. Being chosen to help the brothers on stage, makes it a memory of a lifetime. Our little girl who's been a bit reserved with strangers and such lately, raised her hand quick as lightening when they asked for volunteers and shot out of her seat with out a glance back and ran to those guys. It could not have been more perfect. It probably helped that I made her a Zaboo dress, but hey, its Dollywood after all, maybe Grandma Sharon nudged the guys in the right direction.
Alex liked hanging out in our A-Frame cabin and we took a wonderful drive through the Smokey Mountains. We had fun walking amongst the waterfalls and looking for wildlife. We saw a few deer and even a momma bear and her 3 cubs!

Summer Fun

When Alex isnt being a complete play in the dirt tomboy, she's being a total glamour girl. She loves wearing fancy dresses for such important occasions as going to the grocery store or the playground or just a day at home.
She's also discovered the Boomerang Channel with all the cartoons from when I was growing up. WOW-I forgot how bad they really were, both in quality and complete lack of education. She's quite taken with Scooby-Doo. We went to Six Flags with a friend from preschool and the highlight was getting to meet Scooby. It also showed just how afraid of the dark she now is-Scooby's ride is dark and she refused to go on it.

One of Alex's camps this summer was a theater class. She had her first recital and she did fantastic. Its definitely her thing.

Summer Time Fun

Just a few photos from this summer. We went to Circus Flora a couple of times. Alex cant wait until she's old enough to go to circus school! We went to the Renaissance Faire and I forgot how weird some people are there, but Alex had fun. Alex has had fun playing with both her marble roller coaster and her ride on coaster. We had a blast at the Magic House, that place is amazing. Alex has been spending lots of time in her scrubs-playing vet with her stuffed animals. There is rarely a quiet moment.

Another Milestone

Exciting news happened at Disney World that I forgot to post. Alex lost her first tooth while we were at Disney World! We had brought her tooth fairy pillow just in case and sure enough, it fell out the first day we were there. We were in the Figment attraction which is one of her absolute favorites so she thought that was pretty cool. The tooth fairy left her a few gold dollar coins and a Fantasmic Mickey statue. The tooth fairy had forgotten the Cheetah that Alex was sure she would bring (and which was sitting at home as I had forgotten to pack it) so it was a quick call to Dad for him to check under her pillow at home and sure enough the tooth fairy left it there for her as it was much to heavy for her to fly with it all the way to Disney World. We also stopped at City Hall at the Magic Kingdom and found that Tinker Bell had heard about her tooth from the tooth fairy and left her a special certificate. (This is why I love Disney-always above and beyond and magical)
Just last night Alex lost another tooth. So now she has her adult teeth in the middle on the bottom. The tooth fairy brought another gold coin and a sea lion this time. Alex named this one Rosie and she has another one named Emmie (along with a Build A Bear one) Alex cant wait to take her sea lions to the Zoo and introduce them to their counterparts in the sea lion show.

Full Swing

I cant believe Summer is half over already! Alex has been having fun at her camps. She really like the Little Tykes camp cause they spent about an hour at the pool each day. I kind of expected more as far as the arts and crafts and stuff went, but Alex was plenty happy with the swimming. We got clearance from her doctor for the Move It! camp just in time. She really liked the gymnastics and dance but wasnt really thrilled with the wushu, too mush discipline I think for her taste. She's in swim lessons now and they're going well. She's still not thrilled about getting her face wet and going under water, but she's trying and seems really comfortable with the instructor.
