School Days

Alex seems to be enjoying preschool. Its only for 2 hours, one day a week. The very first day was hard. We had talked a lot about it in the days leading up to it, how I was going to drop her off, leave, and come back for her, to which her response was ALWAYS-"You stay Mommy". So first day, we go in, she immediatly starts to play, things are great, I give her a kiss and wham, shes crying and hanging on, "you stay, you stay, you staaaaaaaay!" So I had to leave with the teaching assistant holding her back and tears ready to run down my cheeks. When I picked her up, the teacher said she cried for less than 2 minutes and was fine (I probably cried longer than she did). So we talked about how I picked her up and how I would drop her off, but always come back for her. I was dreading the next week, but she seemed happy to go. She kept telling me on the drive over-"You drop me off, but you always come back". This time, no problem whatsoever, she knows very well that she is safe and loved. The following week we hit another road block when one of the little boys in class bit her on the arm on the playground. It didnt break the skin, but left a pretty good bruise. She handled the situation fine though and spent the next few days showing everyone her bruise and recounting what the boy did. I was worried that that may make her a little leary of school, but nope, she was all set to go. She's having a great time. They go out and play on the new playground, do lots of arts and crafts, storytime time, singing and dancing. and each and every week when the classroom door opens, I'm greeted by a big "Mommmyy!, an even bigger smile and and a huge hug. Each time I see her with her backpack, I 'm amazed at how the time has flown and she's grown.
