Up, Down, Up Week
Mothers Day was nice, very relaxed. It was the first day back for Dad so he got to do diaper duty for the day. Dad and Alex made a stepping stone for me with her hand print which I love. Tuesday we of course did story time, it was the most crowded its ever been, almost 20 toddlers. Alex made Miss Daryl laugh she was clapping and dancing so much. Alex was in her element at Gymboree Wednesday as it was focused on tunnels which are her favorite. Wednesday night though she started to get the sniffles and it went down hill rapidly, she pretty much was inconsolable and didnt get to sleep until after 4am. So no story time on Thursday, but a trip to the doctor instead. Basically she hit the trifecta-cold, ear infection and teething. So shes got antibiotics for the ear infection plus numbing drops for her ear, cold medication and motrin. She's also a snot producing machine so the "booger bulb" is back and she's not happy about that. She did start feeling better though so we made it to the first day of swim class Friday, luckily there was no under water stuff the first day so didnt have to worry about her ear. Theres about 7 other kids in class, most right about her age, except for 1 girl whose 8 months. We basically just got them use to the water and practiced about 6 different holds, showed them how to kick and practiced blowing bubbles. She had a blast, took her a little while to get into it, shes always checking out the other kids first, but by the end she was letting loose some major squeals of fun. Saturday we did a little garage saling of course (where I picked up 3 boxes of cool tile for only $3 that I'm going to use to redo the lower level bathroom floor). Then we both took her to a Gymboree class, she had fun, but the instrctor wasnt as good as our usual. Then it was Chinese cultural days at the Botanical Gardens so off we headed. I've really been looking forward to seeing the Chihuly glass exhibit that just opened there so we checked out a portion of that too. Dad got to check out a meditation class and a tea class and Alex got to check out the new Childrens Garden. Its really nice with lots of things for kids of all ages to explore. Alex especially enjoyed the water jets. She was also mesmerized by the Chinese Opera performances-who would have thought. Sunday we did an IHOP breakfast-Alex ate almost 4 sausages and a few bites of pancake. Then it was mostly hanging out while Dad had lacrosse practice and then we went to Children's Place to do a little shopping ( I had a $10 off $10.01 coupon so can't beat that, plus it was 50% off clearance prices). Today we're just hanging out catching up on house work and this blog while we wait for the painter to show up to get things started on staining the house.
